Summer & Warm Weather Skin Care Tips
Summer brings more than vacations, barbeques and days at the pool. It also means sweaty skin, sunburn, more oil and more breakouts. The heat and humidity doesn't always change our skin for the better. So what can you do to make up for the weather and keep your skin looking good all summer long? Follow these skin beauty tips to help...
1. Wear sunglasses
Prevent fine lines and wrinkles around the delicate eye area by always wearing sunglasses. They will keep you from squinting and the UV barrier will protect your eyes from the sun.
There are two ways to exfoliate: mechanically, with a grainy scrub you massage on and rinse off (which we do not recommend for fragile skin), and chemically, with a chemical peel. The goal of summer skin care is to rejuvenate skin by improving its texture, removing surface debris and blackheads while preparing it to allow moisturizers, self-tanners and other products penetrate better. Remember to treat your neck, upper chest and hands! (Image Total Ageless Resurfacing Mask is a great cooling exfoliant for summer.)
3. Don't skimp on the moisturizer
Healthy skin function depends on an intact moisture barrier, so moisturizing is an important staple in your skincare routine year round. Use an oil-free, lightweight moisturizer that absorbs quickly, preferably something with an SPF of 30 or higher. (Neocutis Journee moisturizer is the perfect lightweight moisturizer!)
4. Slather on the sunscreen!
The summer sun feels good, but remember it can be dangerous. That is why wearing sunscreen is so important. Even if you can’t feel it, the sun can damage your skin on even the cloudiest day. Sun damage is not pretty and while we can help you erase it, your skin’s health is still impacted. Be sure to check out our skin-saving sunscreen tips to incorporate in your summer skin care regimen.
