5 Secrets to Younger Looking Skin

While wrinkles and fine lines such as crow’s feet occur naturally as we age, there are ways to stop aiding their creation. The number one thing you can do to stop creating more fine lines and wrinkles around your eye and forehead area is wear shades!

When we’re out in the bright sun without sunglasses, we tend to squint. Think about folding the same piece of paper over and over again in the same spot. When we squint, we’re essentially doing the same thing to our skin - creasing it over and over again - and then it becomes a wrinkle that won’t go away.

So instead of trying to get rid of those wrinkles, why not just prevent them? Wearing sunglasses now will make you thankful in your older years. As an added bonus, you’ll also be protecting your eyesight as well as your skin!

Many people believe that skin damage only comes from baking in the sun for hours on end and repeatedly getting sun burnt, but the reality is that the sun is always there even when we can’t see it. If you expect to be outside for a good amount of time, wear sunscreen even if it’s cloudy. This will not only keep your skin looking great, but it will also ward off and protect you from skin cancer.

Be sure to pick a broad spectrum sunscreen that protects against both UVA and UVB rays, as there are many that only protect against UVB rays. While UVB rays only burn the top few layers of the skin, UVA rays run deep into the dermis and are responsible for causing wrinkling and aging of the skin.

Diet is just as important to your appearance as it is to your health. We’ve already discussed the importance of water in relation to your skin in another post, but there is a whole list of foods you can eat for more luminous, refreshed looking skin.
